The law that defines the type and frequency with which to carry out ordinary boiler maintenance operations is Presidential Decree 74/2013 ART 7 and ART 8.
ART. 7 designates the installer as the person responsible for specifying the inspection frequency on the declaration of conformity. In the absence of this information, reference should be made to the instructions in the boiler's use and maintenance manual provided by the appliance manufacturer. In the absence of this other information, reference should be made to UNI 10435 or 10436. Regardless of regulations, performing boiler maintenance annually is a responsible act for your own safety and that of others, while also respecting the environment and your wallet.
ART. 8 defines the frequency of the energy efficiency inspection (combustion analysis), which is performed every 4 years for all types of boilers with a power output of less than 100 kW, regardless of the type of fuel used. Furthermore, the UNI 11137:2019 regulation requires a gas system leak test to be performed each time an RCEE is issued following the energy efficiency inspection.
